You Blog ah??

Chinese New Year gathering at a good friend's place. Yes it is that usual get together of old friends... of familiar faces and definitely some new faces...

After dinner, over a drink or two... all the newbies will try to mingle and blend in with the rest who look real snug and comfy, in fact a little too comfortable that we kind of blend into the friend's furniture.

And off late, as I was telling my friend these new faces are really young. In fact a little too young...in fact are they even allowed out this late??? :)

OK OK one of my resolutions this year is not to be cruel. To be a little friendlier. Smile more.

So I allowed myself to talk to one of these newbies... started with the usual casual exchange of names and what do you do's.... and the usual discussion of how we know the host... etc etc...
then after a very good 20 mins into the conversation... and the "we must definitely hang out... and I will call you the next time I attempt to cook Nasi Lemak..."
the question popped...
"YOU BLOG???"

Suddenly all my new year's resolutions flew out of the window. I recoiled... yuppers...I kinda huddled back into my shell... how do I answer that?

Yes. I blog. What's it to you?

No. I dont. (and lie...)

Yes. I Blog. But dont ask me what it is.
Cos I am not ready to share it... I dont know you that well.
But it is over the www... it is public property...
hmmm but you gotta find it first...

Sigh.

Has our Blog been turned into a Name Card...? A really personal name card that follows our every introduction? What happened to the "getting to know you" process that happens over a period of time? And is it proper eitquette to ask a person for their blogsite upon the first meeting? And what is the right way to ask so that the request can be turned down politely too?

Something like
"would you like to come up for a drink?"

"Sure I would love to."

or

"No. I have to get going. Got an early meeting tomorrow."

See? Simple and polite.

The First Time

The first time this happened, I rearranged a kick ass piece of music for a play...
the second time it happened, I decided to kick start an A cappella group...
then each time it happened, something Big started...
first pop musical, then Integrated Expressions, followed by several other musicals, then the huge sci fi musical...

Now... I feel it again.

It is that certain indescribable numbness that hits right in the pit of the stomach... and releases this sort buzz... which is kinda persistent and thumps at the top my head every night till I know what to do with it. And for now, xanax... tramal... neurofen + piriton ... are not working at all.

It has to be an Idea to get it to stop.

I need an idea!

Now I can have CHRISTMAS all year round

Towards the end of last year, many friends tried to talk me out of getting ANOTHER kitten...

but I couldnt help it...

Only cat owners, pet lovers will truly understand what I was going through. Ashley, Picollo, Percival and Picasso are all grown up now. It seemed like only yesterday that they were whizzing about the hall gettting trapped in too-small places... breaking vases, terrorizing the dog... making me sneeze... waking me up at wee hours of the morning so that they can go out of the room to see birds downstairs...

Ok... I know that didnt sound extremely positive. But I really miss the pitter patter of little paws against wooden floor panelling... the incessant meows, the hungry little accusing eyes of a kitten!!! "Why are you leaving me alone again"

So I promised my friends and my family - No More Buying kittens... ok ok too many liao...

Then as luck would have it...

Christmas came.

Yea... one cold and rainy afternoon... in Kota Damasara... by the side of the road near DO RE MI studio... Luck Found Me!

As we were walking to our car... Choo said: "awww look at the poor little thing... is it DEAD?"

That was all the persuasion I needed to walk over to this limp little pile of bones and skin and fur to check it out...

She turned to me... SLOWLY and meowed... it was the most pathetic meow I have ever heard.

It sounded more like an off pitched quack...

the little kitten quacked and kind of lifted her head to look at me... tried to get up but fell hopelessly back onto the road...

So I grabbed a pashmina from the car and wrapped up and we took her to a vet... who kept her for observation... she was down with bad flu... eye infection, mange... huge cut on nose and ears...

well... she fraily quacked all the way to the vet...

ah.. the rest is history.

She has now officially joined the rest of the family... as a super trooper who never stops reminding Percival how fat he has become, Picasso that she is no longer the youngest and Picollo - oh well.. Picollo is still the prettiest! (yah i know i play favourites!!! haha)

She is today healthy and lively. She is funny. She is kinda cute in a furless way... But above everything, she gives everyone a fair share of exercise. Well needed one too!
